STOP CALLING! The dude that called had a little smart [***] mouth on him. When I answered this am , and asked whos calling , Then they said the name I said " NO ONE HERE BY THAT NAME" He just said you could have said that at the beginning of call to save him time. REALLY ! Please have these people STOP calling my #.
6 pm on Sunday night these idots call & then when I answered it was like alot of clicking & no one said anything! It was from Florence,KY. I know no one in KY!!! This is not the 1st time this number has shown up,& it's always on a Sunday!
I recieved a call from these people, apparently as I have read from Portfolio Recovery Associates, on Sunday night, 2/20/2011 at 7 p.m. Then today (2/21/2011) Monday President's Day morning, at 8:30 a.m. I got a call from another number of theirs, 626-209-2241. If you look that number up, many have posted from 20-83 numbers for these people. I am in Washington State as well.
If you paid them money, then you accomplished the same result as throwing it in the fire. It's almost pure profit for them; they made more money last year than Wal-Mart. The original creditor never see a dime past the pennies they received selling the debt. You are also taking the risk to have this show up on your credit report as a settlement, where as before it was not on there at all, and that just shows potential creditors that you were in collections and therefore a risk.
If you have a guilty conscience over a past debt and now find that you have some extra money to pay it, do yourself and everyone else a favor and give it to a reputable charity, clear your guilt that way instead of helping someone who had nothing to do with the original debt make a BIG FAT PROFIT.
Oh and here is another tid-bit for you to munch on. They will often turn around and resell the same debt you “settled” to another bottom feeder debt collector who feeds just a little lower than they did themselves.
Landline users buy the new line of Panasonic cordless phones that feature "call block" Each time I get a call, I save it to call block menu, next time they call they get 2 short tones as if the phone # is disconnected and then they are left with nothing but silence, They get no way to leave message or voicemail, just silence. The most I get is a short ring when call fisrt comes in and is being checked against my list, if it's on the list then "bye-bye". Also blocks "unavailable, unknown, out of area, annonymous and private. WOO HOO I have taken back my home phone.
