STOP CALLING! The dude that called had a little smart [***] mouth on him. When I answered this am , and asked whos calling , Then they said the name I said " NO ONE HERE BY THAT NAME" He just said you could have said that at the beginning of call to save him time. REALLY ! Please have these people STOP calling my #.
I have been receiving calls from portofilo recovery now for some time. I have a list of over 100 numbers that they call from. To many to list here. But if you get calls from them keep a list of all the numbers and dates. It does not to any good to tell them not to call, the best thing to do is not answer any call from a number you do not know. The law in California is that they can not collect a debt that is over 4 yrs. old, unless you have paid them any money. Then your 4 yrs start all over again. So do not agree to pay them anything and tell them to go pound sand.
WOW. How many numbers do Portfolio use? They are taken advantage of a bad economy and giving crumbs to telemarketers. They make executives money that have found loopholes in the collection laws in America. Laws must be passed that only the original debtor may collect the debt. They gave you the credit, now it is their responsibility to collect. They sell bad debt for pennies. Basically Junk Bond trading gone to the credit market. It has to be stopped. Obama wants to forgive mortgage debt for millions. How about forgiving old debt. WHY NOT? Because PRA gives millions to politicians to keep the laws to their advantage. They argue they can't take you to court once the SOL expires, but leave the law that debt never dies. It stays with you for life, unless you file bankruptcy. Finally, file complaints when they do something illegal. In this case, they are spoofing their caller ID, which is illegal. They must leave a message if the phone picks up (they hang up once the machine comes on). They must not conceal their caller ID (which they did by only adding city and state). PRA skirts the law and will continue unless everyone begins to file complaints with the FTC and state attorney general. Please file complaints. By the way, they are calling looking for my brother who owes me money and I haven't spoken with in over 3 years. I tell them when I do answer and they call me a liar. See the caliber of people that work for PRA. Don't fell bad to tell them to go to hell.
These jerkwads call from so many different numbers that I now just ignore any # I don't know. I have yet to receive one message letting me know what the call is regarding but good thing 800notes exists.
The debt is over 10 years old and in my state you cannot sue a consumer for a debt past the SOL. The only way to cease phone calls is to write a cease & desist letter and mail or fax it to the company.Even if you DO owe the $ from an old debt, don't admit to it, don't make a payment because that will reset the SOL. By law, the HAVE to stop calling or else they risk being sued. I may just contact a lawyer myself because calling a cell phone is against the law as well.
These people are bottom feeding morons that buy old debts for pennies on the dollar hoping you'll be an idiot consumer and respond to their threats.
I get calls from them every day from different numbers some times several times a day I put them on my silent ring list. I never answer calls from strange numbers sometimes the numbers show only 4 digits sometimes when you do answer these calls no one is there I would like to change my number.
