its a scam people.. they tell you they will lower your rates yet they just need all the billing info. told them to shove the phone up their [***] then dial it from inside, and ONLY then i will give my info to that scimbag. i think she tried it to be honest
I got 2 calls from them in 1 day, both were hangups. The second was after 9 PM. Besides being on the DO-Not-Call list for many years, the second call was a firm after hours violation. These appear to be "live" calls. The telemarketer is "Startel, LLC" with call centers in several states. My call was from 1-856-335-1765 which is located in Berlin, New Jersey. Corporate HQ is in CA. Phone is 1-800-782-7835 and website is www.startelcorp.com (although this makes no mention of their telemarketing arm. I called them and found out that they were calling on behalf of Starion Energy PA, Inc., 220 Main Street South, Suite 206, Southbury, CT 06488, 1-800-600-3040. The FTC will take complaints but needs lots of complaints to take action. I normally complain on-line (https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx?panel=2) but because of the after-hours violation, I called the FTC "live" number, 1-877-382-4357. I suggest as many people as possible file complaints (use the "live" number; tying up their lines may get their attention). The agent I spoke with also recommended complaining to your state's Public Service Commission. Since I've already complained to my PSC about another similar telemarketer/energy company, I plan to do just that. By the way, the DNC is supposed to be enforced by local law enforcement so lots of complaints to the energy company's States Attorney General Office (in this case CT) should also get their attention since they pay the telemarketer.
I keep getting calls from Startel LLC 856-335-1765. I'm on do not call list. Shannon X220, 1-866-418-8008 told me that she could set up a 3 way call with Atlantic City Electric to get my account information. Told her I had to talk it over with my husband since I had a bad experience with something like this before. She was persistent but told me it was Starion Energy, whom I had never heard of. Their website says they have 7 employees. Not doing it.
