Because legitimate charities are exempt from "Do Not Call" restrictions, many pseudo-charities abuse that privilege, including research companies who make sales inquiries under a non-profit disguise. I don't know the legitimacy of Clothing Pickup but I do know I'm sick of them calling the house multiple times a week, for whatever they want.
The exemption for charities should REQUIRE that all callers identify themselves, and not disturb homeowners with a pointless, silent phone call. Such behavior should automatically disqualify them, since they are nuisance calls with no charitable purpose.
These people have been calling me a minimum of 4 times a day. Caller ID says Clothing Pickup. I was promised that they would remove my number from their list, but got another call the next morning at 9 am. When I tried to tell them that my number was supposed to have been removed, I have NEVER been spoken to so rudely in my entire life. Rick Moses (I asked his name and he quotes the Bible for his last name) was unbelievably unprofessional and condescending. I would not donate to these people if they were the last charity on earth!
We have bee harassed by these folks with several calls everyday. We will never give them anything in the future. Woe the day we made the a mistake of giving them before.
I had previously agreed to have some cloths for pick up this Friday, 05/11/2012. I was told that I would receive a call to validate the pick up a day before (today). I did receive the call but when I tried to follow the instructions on the recording and called the NAMI number, I was transferred to an "automated voice messaging service" and was told the mailbox was full.
I have had it with this organization. It took me many tries initially to get these people to understand that I do not have a "lady of the house" as I am single and to stop hanging up when I told them there was no lady of the house. I actually wanted to help at the time.
There's a Goodwill drop box down the street from my house. Guess where this pick up is going along with all subsequent pick ups.
