I stupidly answered a 800 call and it was a debt collector that had an Indian accent. He insisted he could get my debt way down. Then when I said I would get back,to him on it, he became mean and said I had to give him 100.00 for the so called deal! It was a learning experience, and I will not do it again. What is really sad, is how many poor, elderly, lonley, isolated people they do scare into writing post dated checks ECT. Its sick!
Scammers, they tell you their name and that they are recording you. Won't tell you who they are calling for, e.g., company. DO not say anything as they record your voice for possible use later in a scam. A reputable business would immediately tell you their business name.
(CWG40) is absolutely correct. Portfolio Recover plays dirty and will call from blocked numbers from all around the country. They will call as early as 6am PST and as late as 10 pm EST. They are debt collectors for debts that they buy off of other companies and they are straight up trying to get that money at any cost.

This collection company was sued in a class action law suit in California for calling consumers on their cell phone without the consumers permission. On December 5th 2016 in the San Diego court a settlement of $23, 000,000. was ordered. After attorney and admin. fees, each person in the lawsuit will receive compensation.

Same thing has been happening to me every day this month, when I answered they said they're to serve me with court documents regarding a government law suit, they knew my first and last name but provided me with the wrong social security number. When I stated such they got angry when I told them I would not provide them with my correct SSN because I felt as if they were a fraud and they hung up on me... I've never been arrested, nor filed taxes incorrectly so they have no reason to investigate me
