I stupidly answered a 800 call and it was a debt collector that had an Indian accent. He insisted he could get my debt way down. Then when I said I would get back,to him on it, he became mean and said I had to give him 100.00 for the so called deal! It was a learning experience, and I will not do it again. What is really sad, is how many poor, elderly, lonley, isolated people they do scare into writing post dated checks ECT. Its sick!
This group calls every year at tax time, since I (like a moron) followed through on paying a debt they said I owed (in 2010!). It was a total scam, lesson learned, but they start up again every tax season!! Block their FL number, they call back from MO the next week and so on.
It is Portfolio again. Had fun telling them that are too late, that it was over 6 years So if you keep calling l will sue. I have been looking up here if no l did not know. I save to contacts with ring set to "no ring". I can save up to 5 no under same name. I put a in front so it is not in my way. I just filled last space on z11thp,ortfolio. 55 diff nos hoping l would answer 1 of em. Saw on here that they have 90 diff nos!
Portfolio has close to a thousand numbers that they own or spoof. If by 6 years, you mean the Statute of Limitations, unless you live in Wisconsin or Mississippi, they are allowed to attempt to collect, they are not allowed to sue or to threaten to sue. However, since they have also broken probably every other collection laws, I fail to see why you are putting up with the harassment, when you could be suing them and making them pay you, as well are reporting them to the proper agencies.
Your right, its to identify who is calling you. And that is what people do when they come here. They are attempting to identify who is calling them since this caller doesn't seem to leave a message. You don't have to answer a call from a number you don't recognize to have the right to come on this website to try to identify who is calling you. No need for you to be rude to anybody. Everyone is here for the same reason
