Caller ID was "FINANCIAL CTR". Message left was about: "reducing credit card interest rates to as little as 6% if I owe at least $3000 and one card is in good standing."
I have two different ways to block numbers. The easiest is using my Panasonic phone, which allows me to select the number, save it, then block it. I can have up to 30 numbers blocked. The other is through my service provider (Verizon) which allows up to 25 numbers blocked at any one time. I have to call a special number, follow the prompts and enter the numbers. I believe both of these features require that you have caller ID. Hope that helps.
I've been receiving calls from them even though I'm on national and Texas no call lists. When I returned the call to the number, it offered one option - to be placed on their no call list. Ahhh, to no avail, they still call 'cause I guess they now know I have an active number. But you'd think that they'd figure out it's more efficient to not call these numbers since they won't get results. But then, what can you say about morons who make these calls to begin with?
Call came in at 4:34PM July 3, 2012 labelled "Financial Ct". Must be a brand-new scam number, started today. No message left on the answering machine. It is now blocked, along with it scam-mates.
I've been using the same or similar Panasonic phone for several years, and this phone and others like it are one of the sure ways to stop these calls. Unfortunately, they only stop individual numbers, and the scammers keep spoofing new ones, so it's a never-ending battle. As soon as the 30-number list is full, I delete the oldest 15 and keep right on going. Many of the older numbers are never used again, so this works fairly well. Yes, you have to have caller-ID for the Panasonic to block numbers. I also have it set to block "Private Caller" and "Unknown Number" calls. Whoever calls me had better have a number that is encoded so that my phone can read it if they expect the phone to be answered.
