So I have an account on care.com for dog walking service and got a text message from this number asking met to email her sister who is looking for a dog walker. I emailed and got a response that was very detailed and basically saying they wanted to hire me to walk there two dogs when they moved to this area. They would send a cashier check ahead of time as the dogs might get there before they do and so on.... Well I'm thankfully aware of scams like this and hope this helps someone make the decision that it's to good to be true and they are scamming you for money. Even if your bank accepts the check about 7 days later it will deny it and your bank account can be negative by thousands of dollars. They will try everything to get you to send them money as fast as possible because of this. Be aware! You work hard for your money, don't let people do this to you!!!
Got a call just now from this number. Man with heavy Indian accent saying he was calling because they are the service company and there is a problem with my [something] computer. I played along for a minute, asking him, "Gosh, how do you know? But I didn't understand what kind of computer? Please spell it." He eventually said that he was with a service company for Microsoft and it was my Windows computer. At which point I told him my computers are all Macs and hung up. I've blocked the number.
I got 2 calls today (Labor Day) on my work phone saying my home computer is in need of repair. There is no way to link my business phone and home phone. The 2nd person called back and asked why I hung up. I said it sounded like a scam, then she hung up.
