So I have an account on care.com for dog walking service and got a text message from this number asking met to email her sister who is looking for a dog walker. I emailed and got a response that was very detailed and basically saying they wanted to hire me to walk there two dogs when they moved to this area. They would send a cashier check ahead of time as the dogs might get there before they do and so on.... Well I'm thankfully aware of scams like this and hope this helps someone make the decision that it's to good to be true and they are scamming you for money. Even if your bank accepts the check about 7 days later it will deny it and your bank account can be negative by thousands of dollars. They will try everything to get you to send them money as fast as possible because of this. Be aware! You work hard for your money, don't let people do this to you!!!
My unlisted number called by 201-374-8004. My story is the same as the above. I needed a good laugh at that moment, so ROTFL and hung up. Then to this site to report. They are still at it. I wonder why "scam" is not listed below here under "call type".
Today I have received three of these calls. There has been one from Ontario and Texas. It sounds like the same person with a very thick accent. The last time was the 201 area code. I tried to hang up and then picked it up again and they were still talking. I told them I was on the Do Not Call List. I was on the internet at the time. My computer locked up and there was a virus running. I immediately shut the computer down. How can I stop this.
This has happened to Me a few Times,I just Hit the Power Button and Shut the Computer Off then I Turn it back On,Problem Solved.It's not the Best thing to do but it seems to be the only option that I can figure out.
Just got one of theses calls,I didn't reconize the Number so I didn't Answer the Phone but when the Answering Machine kicked in they just Hung up. Me and My Roomate have different Lines and I'm the only one here who uses the Computer and find it funny that they called Her Number I checked the Number Online and it Lead Me Here,I'm glad that there are Sites like this one to Inform People like all of Us that someone's up to No Good.
