Got a message on my phone saying that I was getting sued by the IRS. Freaked tf out. But realized that it was a scam when 1. IRS sends out letters. 2, they were asian and the guy gave me a typical name a "David smith" 3, they shouldn't be harassing you. And they wouldnt tell me what the listed address was. Hang up the phone if you get a call from this number.
Call showed coming from Washington DC. The same here, just left an automated message with number to call, didn't say who they were or what they wanted. Are they only targeting people who recently received a tax return? Has anybody on here been called who didn't get a return? If so, where are they getting the information?
Get it from a variety of sources. Some jst buy it from information brokers. Much of the information is gleaned from on-line applications that people file. Payday loan applications are a fertile sources of information for scammers.
