Got a call 202-864-1255. The caller introduced herself as an IRS investigation officer and wanted to get some information related to fraud. After I asked her to mail me the issue and do not discuss my personal information over the phone, the caller hanged up. This is scam. IRS never calls and discuss fraud over the phone. Be aware.
This SCUMBAG named Melvin Balchic just called and left a message about tax fraud, he sounded like a foreigner and a jerk. I would think that he would have addressed a specific person in the message not just "you". I thought it was a scam but still called 1-202-864-1255, I was curious, and it said was all circuits are busy. I looked the number up and found this page. I had no idea that the maggot criminals were doing this. I saw the post on the irs web site and the federal trade commissions web site and it sounds like some poor souls fell for it. The local news should tell people about it, so everyone knows.
The caller did not mention my name but said he was working for IRS fraud and crime division and that someone lodged a claim about me for tax fraud! He said I should call him back to investigate it further.. He spoke with an accent and said his name was something like Malin Balchie. Please stop this jerk from upsetting and scamming people!
They won't go away. They won't stop calling. The calls originate in India. They pick on single women, single mothers, the elderly and members of the immigrant community.
Got the same message. Could almost detect a Russian accent in his voice. IRS would send written notice first and always!
The caller ID numbers differed from the number he's asking to call back on.
My client got a call from this #, saying they were investigating fraud on her tax account. He said his name was Carlos White, from IRS, with a heavy accent. Caller ID showed as New York, but area code 202 is DC. She hung up before he relayed the rest of his scam.
