Got a call 202-864-1255. The caller introduced herself as an IRS investigation officer and wanted to get some information related to fraud. After I asked her to mail me the issue and do not discuss my personal information over the phone, the caller hanged up. This is scam. IRS never calls and discuss fraud over the phone. Be aware.
Got this same message. I returned the call and I too heard other calls going on in the background. He asked for the phone # the message was left on. I gave it to him and he said he couldn't find it in his system. I asked him to read it back to me, which he did. Next thing I know, he's gone. WTF?!?
My Dad just got a call from this number, totally freaked him out. Said he would be arrested, not to leave the country and he owed $30,000 in back taxes. Completely sketchy. I had my father call the IRS' 800 number to make him feel better that there was no issue. There is a special place in hell for these scammers.
I cannot believe this can happen. Called us told my husband he was going to be arrested in 45 minutes due to tax evasion.
Told us to call a criminal lawyer. We did not know what the heck they were after us for. Never came and arrested my husband. Next day same message. I hope people research the 202 864 1255 number and find out about these people and not have to think something bad was going to happen for no reason.
