Received a call today from this number also. Also sounded like a middle-eastern man on a fuzzy line. Asked for a person who, as far as I know, has never had our phone number (although we've received wrong calls for her in the past).
Shawn's message on April 30th probably has it right. He said: "My mother buys calling cards from Marc's department store (We live in Ohio). This number shows when she is calling while using it."
Likely, this is just a low-tech, goofy scammer using a calling card. If he's in the US, the calling card company could probably track down the phone the call's made from. Likely a TracPhone or some such.
Wonder if he's made any money with it? I'm looking for a new career and my accent is about like Gomer Pyle's.
JUST RECEIVED A PHONE CALL FROM THIS NUMBER, THERE WAS A MESSAGE STATING THAT I NEEDED TO GET AN ATTORNEY FOR MYSELF.TRYED CALLING THE NUMBER AND IT DISCONNECTS OR SOMEONE WILL ANSWER AND NOT SAY ANYTHING.
These guys are scammers!!! They called trying to convince me that I took out a payday loan and never paid it back!!
I'VE NEVER Taken out a payday loan! They used scare tactics and they almost worked...They said that if I didn't allow to settle out of court they'd have me arrested! I assumed that my Identity had been "stolen" or compromised, so I went to the police. The police said not to worry about it, that no one can send you to court without any kind of subpoena or something in writing...
They called back and I told them that I was on to their scam... The Indian guy on the phone got so mad that he started yelling obscenities. I hung up. He then proceeded to call my number 24 times in row...
Not sure what to do about this. I want to track the [***] number and get him arrested for harrasment...
