I also got a call like that and I though it might be true, but them they started to ask all this question in relation to who I was, if I had a credit card, and if I had money to sell the grant. I told them I was not interested and the the thing was that they were saying that I couldn't tell anyone until the "application" was complete.
This appears to be a scam pretending to be the IRS.
My voicemail received was:
"internal revenue services the reason of this call is to inform you that irs is filing lawsuit against you to get more information about this case file please call immediately on our department number 206-538-5498 i repeat 206-538-5498 thank you"

I picked "Scams and Rip Offs" and then "Imposter Scans"
my husband got this called x2 one yesterday and today saying that irs has a lawsuit on him
i called that number on his phone no answer-----called on my phone--someone answer it tell me that
i owe irs lots of money---i told him that i will go to irs here where i live and all of a sudden the phone went dead
i am going to report this to irs hopeful this will stop---my husband is ill and that person had him so upset that
he was having a anxiety attack----this needs to stop and that person need to get charge
