RS does not file lawsuits. Tax disputes are civil matters. 90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively. IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job. IRS does not cold call anyone and all contacts are initiated by US mail.
Yes, my call came from 281-658-2722. I listened to it twice because my first inclination was "this is a scam"... the tip offs were: 1. I know/read that the IRS never phones or sends phishing emails
2. They said this was my "final" notice before a law suit was filed against me and that they had been trying to reach me (I'd received no prior calls)
3. The "robo voice" was almost comical... it was this female voice sounding like she was trying to be "serious" so fake!
So I was 99% certain it was a scam, but I immediately searched online to confirm. THANKS everyone for posting - I hope no one falls for this trickery!
I just got scammed by these guys. Totally feel like an idiot. They know how to play on your fears. Please, people! Don't get pulled in by these guys! Look up the phone numbers! Don't be stupid like me.

Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.
