RS does not file lawsuits. Tax disputes are civil matters. 90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively. IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job. IRS does not cold call anyone and all contacts are initiated by US mail.
Going thru the same thing here. My niece works for the irs and I called her immediately and she set me straight. Will report these idiots today. My husband was very worked up.
I got a call from these MotherLovers who told me on my voicemail that they were going to file suit against me for the money. I called back to the number left and he initially told me I owed 3,000 to the IRS, I informed him that I didn't earn enough to owe that much. I do owe, but it is less than $100. He demanded that I get the money and instructed me to go to my bank and get it. I asked him what was I to do with the money once I got it out of the bank, I asked him how was he going to get it from me. He instructed me to put him on speaker phone while I drove to the bank (REALLY?!!) and then he would tell me what to do. I informed Joseph Stevens (not a name for someone from India or Pakistan) that I would be paying any debt to the IRS online or through the US mail. He hung up. I contacted the IRS via the internet and noticed that all the numbers were toll-free which would eliminate this caller, and that they required you to input information prior to them ever picking up the phone. I then called Joseph back and demanded that he tell me how he got my name and number, he stressed that I owed the IRS, and I repeated my question and he hung up the phone. I called him again and this time the phone was busy. I am tempted to call the Seattle Police Department and let them know what their resident is doing across the country, providing them with the phone number 206-973-3241 maybe they can locate this clown. How does this bottom feeder continue to use the same frickin' number over and over again. I am calling from Chicago and I see others from across the country. I was so upset because I can't get close enough to him to really find out how he planned to get my money. Dirty stinkin' piece of crap. Unfortunately someone has fallen for this scam or he wouldn't continue to do it. Pass on this information to everyone you can so that it becomes less lucrative to these people.
This is a scam saying they are IRS. I pray that people become educated about not only this scam, but all scams. You see so many warnings to never give information to anyone you are not familiar with. IRS or any company will NEVER call and ask you to see money to a debit or prepaid card. One good way to put these scammers out of business is to not be so gullible.
IRS scam. But call them back!! It's HILARIOUS!!! The guy actually kept his TV on the entire time and when I'd ask him a question he couldn't answer, he just repeated his name and badge number. When I finally let him know I work for a CPA he hung up. But WOW it was fun while it lasted.
