RS does not file lawsuits. Tax disputes are civil matters. 90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively. IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job. IRS does not cold call anyone and all contacts are initiated by US mail.
Same thing happened to me today. Message left saying they had been trying to reach me and this was their final attempt, that the IRS had a lawsuit against me and to call the above number when caller ID number was 729-462-5687. Do they really think that the IRS could not find me? Final Attempt? If there was a lawsuit pending on me I would have known about it before today.
Received a scam phone call telling me I was getting sued for unpaid taxes. I immediately checked for potentials scams and sure enough this was one. The call came from 723-472-5627 and told me to call 206-973-3241.
Fraudulent call: claimed to be IRS and that this was a final notice (obviously, I've never received a notice before). said IRS was filing a lawsuit against me.
