Sean is 100% correct with his post! The Company that's calling is PSI/Professional Surveys, Inc. out of Largo, FL. USAA hires this data collection outfit to raise your premiums. He's how it all works. USAA underwriting canvases all public records to rate you for insurance. With everyone clamoring for you insurance dollars these days, USAA has been quietly collecting other information to jack your rates. It's called data collection. And what's done with data? It's bought and sold for the great American green back! PSI masquerades as a policy survey firm. There is no survey what so ever. It's strictly collecting data to be sold off. You see PSI is in business to collect data and sell it. They have no privacy policy. It's like visiting a website , while they are collecting your surfing pattern, PSI is collecting your driving habits. Then you are being slammed with ads or in this case higher premiums!! PSI is NOT surveying you on how your insurance company is doing. What data are they collecting? Anything they can hand over to USAA to raise your premiums. Everything you tell them is recorded and then transcribed over to USAA is return for.... $$$. So here's a little sample of what's happening. You have told USAA that you use good ole Betsy SUV for pleasure. Thus you have a batter rate. PSI crafts their questions so as to get another answer out of you. It may go something like this. So I see you use your Ford Explorer SUV for pleasure, do you use for any other occasions, such as work or school or ride sharing? You of course now being duped, answer, well some days, I need extra money for the holidays. BINGO! The super sweet friendly PSI pretend surveyor now has a smile from ear to ear. Why, she's now sold that bit of info off to USAA in return for a percentage of what USAA has now raised your premium. You ask how can PSI do this???? Real simple. They told you it was a survey and you spilled your guts to them over the phone, which was recorded and passed on to USAA's underwriting to raise your premiums. 100% legal you big dummy! Well that's not fair you say! My suggestion to you or anyone pretending to be from USAA and asking questions about your policy is to simply state, USAA has all my information thank you and hang up! You don't post your policy on the front door now do you? there is no law about not answering a survey. Call your state insurance commission. They will tell you the same thing.
If you don't feel comfortable answering a call from PSI I was told by a USAA rep I could just call them directly and tell PSI I didn't want to answer their questions. Worked both times for me.
