I received a call from this number and the same issue happened. Being a clever girl, I led the man on phone to believe that I was following his prompts and kept putting him on hold. I kept his game up for at least 30 minutes. Then I said "did you say Windows?" I don't have windows because I use Apple!!!! They hung up......bam!
The call came in at 12:15 pm. The caller didn't give his name but said he was with Windows Support. He claimed there was a virus on my computer, specifically with Windows and that I needed to go to a certain website and he would talk me through fixing the problem. I asked how he knew there was any problem on my computer and he said that my issue came up on his. I laughed and told him to take his internet herpes and go [***] himself and hung up. He was calling from a call center. He was Indian and sounded young and practiced in his spiel. I could hear other accented voices in the background. Also he knew my name, though horribly, mispronounced. This was a scam.
I got basically the same call. Like what? He was going to come to my house. I said my computer us find, he said no thousands of things are wrong. I informed him I had a computer person and he hung up.
I just received a call from him. same issue....first I noticed my caller id did not identify the caller so while I had him on the line I googled his number and found this site. Thank you for the original post.
Got this call @ 0950 PST from "Windows Support" (ya right) in San Antonio TX, with the foreign (Indian/Pakastani) accent, saying that he was going to save my computer by "cleaning" it if I would only give him some information so he would have control.
I think anyone who falls for these scams probably should have a # blocking phone before they buy a computer.
I told him Thanks but I already threw the bad computer away and have ordered another from Costo.
He hung up on me
