I received a call from this number and the same issue happened. Being a clever girl, I led the man on phone to believe that I was following his prompts and kept putting him on hold. I kept his game up for at least 30 minutes. Then I said "did you say Windows?" I don't have windows because I use Apple!!!! They hung up......bam!
This is just the latest in a long list of calls from various area codes, always the same story - "I'm from Windows Company and your computer has been infected." Gentleman this (and other) times had Indian accent. I have repeatedly asked them to remove my number, I'm on the no call list. This last one was belligerent even after I expressed that I knew it was some sort of scam. He insists he is with Windows PC Protection in Texas. Anyone have idea how to get them to stop??
Ever hear of not answering mystery callers in any way? Cheapest and easiest way that I know of. No answer, the caller can't play. Do NOT engage in conversation with these goofs, deceit and tricks are their motive. Anytime you get a call with a foreigner on the other end, especially if it's about a computer, hang up immediately. Ever get any calls from a bogus American tech support rep?
got a call today on a cell number I don't use online anymore. Only a few family members know it. Did not answer.
They also use 310-356-9110, 866-285-8026 and others. I lost all data last year after they infected my machine.
