Just got a call today at 1:45pm, and a recording came on, stating it is the IRS with a claim against us, and if we do not respond immediately they will go ahead and charge us. It said we must call 210-888-0979
I was surprised, since we had just sent off an updated amendment to the IRS inquiry they had made, regarding an error.
I also got a call from this number tonight claiming the IRS is filing a lawsuit against me, to call that number for information. I do not owe the IRS anything I got back. So I know its a scam is there anything we can do about that?
It is a scam. The other commentor is correct. The IRS will only contact you by regular US Mail. I have worked with the IRS in the past and this is not their method of contacting individuals/businesses.
