Just got a call from 213-333-3206 claiming the whole "your gonna crash your computer" "using microsoft windows" "sending error reports" stuff. Told him it sounded like a scam and ended the call. Looked up the number and well you know the rest if you are reading this.
Yep, just got my second call as in many days from this number. That number is a cell in Los Angeles. The first call they were smart enough to block the number, coming up as 'unknown caller'. First caller was a woman [***], the other didn't answer the phone (obviously fishing for a working number). And we're on the do-not-call list! What a bunch of baloney.
I have gotten calls from this outfit numerous times over the last 6 months. He insisted that it was definitely MY windows 7.0, (which I don't have). I asked him if he was sure it was MY windows and to verify that by reasing me the MS serial #. He told me to read my serial # to him and he would tell me if it was correct. I laughed right at him, called him a crook and then hung up. A lady in my city fell for his line of crap and was out 500.00.
That idiot called me today selling me the same bs.Caller id read MGL BPO. I played along with him for awhile. He was giving me a step by step instruction on a website which I pretended to be on. He asked me to go click on something on the pulldown menu and then asked me what it says. I told him it says it was a scam and hung up on his sorry a$$.
He called right back using a different #. Caller id now reads "TACCESS 206--397-1126". He apologized that our connection was lost (obviously he didn't hear me say that this was a scam before I hung up). I hung up on his stupid a$$ once again.
Got a call from a male barely speaking English claimind to be with Microsoft as well. Listened to his BS for a few minutes then asked him how he knew if I even had a computer. The reply was a dial tone.
I got a call from one of these Indian call centres a few weeks ago at about 9:40 pm. I told him I know he is just trying to remotely connect to my computer so he can steal my banking information, that he is a scammer, that he should get a real job and stop trying to rip off people. His reply was, "I know you're home and I want to F- - K you. I then told him to F- - K off and not call here again. I then emailed the CRTC and told them exactly what was said on the call. I got a useless email back with a bunch of useless links. They won't do anything about this but obviously these companies must be having some success at this little scam because they've been doing it for over a year now. I'm told that if you string them along for a half hour it really pisses them off. I would if I had time.
