It was just blank air. I hung up. I am on the Do Not Call List. We also don't ever receive calls on this phone except for the occasional telemarketer, so I was suspicious. Sure enough that's what it was.
I get at least one call or more per week from 1-213-910-8228. saying they are from Microsoft technical support wanting me to go to my computer and telling them what i see and then click on ctrl plus another letter so he could get in my computer. i played along to find out what he was up to but never got on my computer. i told him i had my own tech support. and always hang up.
First off, I use Linux - Not Windows.
Call from the so called Microsoft Technical Support. I thought I'd string him along a bit. Wanted to know if I was in front of my computer and I said no, I had to go up stairs. He said to take my time so I did. I don't have an upstairs but I waited awhile and started breathing heavy like I just climbed 4 flight of stairs. 5 minutes into the call he asked if the computer was on, I said no so he had me turn it on. That took awhile as well. This was getting fun. I said those files must be causing it to start slow. I was acting like I didn't know what I was doing and he had me go to www.teamviewer.com and asked if I could see the beautiful lady (I've seen better). Had me click on "Join Remote Control Session" and download TeamViewerQS_en.exe. I said I did but could not find where it went. We're in this by about 10 minutes by now and I was tired of playing along and I said I could not open it - I'm not administrator. He wanted to know who the administrator was and would be the best time to call. I says he's out of town. This is where I acted like we had a bad connection and hung up. I just wish I had more time to play with these fools.
I got a call from 213-910-8228. Lady with Indian said she was Mircrosoft Windows. I got a call from them a couple years ago. I reported it to the FCC who told me to call the FTC. I think it is better to get an FTC person on the phone since the FTC website requires the scammers email address and I had to make up to submit the complaint. The FTC should allow for the option of a phone number only. I called Microsoft too since I know they have and identity fraud unit.
