Some guy calling from "US Deputy Sheriff's Association". Said that they needed money for bulletproof vests and officers lost in the line of duty. I asked them if they could send some info in writing. Guy said that he needed a pledge from me before he could send me some materials by mail. I said that I'll pledge something as soon as I get something in writing. Guy said "ok, thank you" and hung up.
Sounds like a scam to me. Oh, yeah, Stranger, let me give you my credit card number so you can take all of my hard-earned money out of my account!
Have had calls from this number 3 times over the past week. Twice, I didn't answer it. Today, I answered and I could hear a man mumbling something, but he didn't respond to me, and hung up.
Called twice on 3/29/07. They asked for me by my first name the first call. The second call I could hear someone talking in the background, but when I said Hello they hung up. I have seen them on my caller ID before.
Got a call from this number tonight. Person asked for me by name and blurted out that he was with the deputy sheriff...and then hung up. I will report him to the "do not call" list as well.
