Some guy calling from "US Deputy Sheriff's Association". Said that they needed money for bulletproof vests and officers lost in the line of duty. I asked them if they could send some info in writing. Guy said that he needed a pledge from me before he could send me some materials by mail. I said that I'll pledge something as soon as I get something in writing. Guy said "ok, thank you" and hung up.
Sounds like a scam to me. Oh, yeah, Stranger, let me give you my credit card number so you can take all of my hard-earned money out of my account!
Same story. When I said,"hello," he said,"Oh,hey" and called me by first name. Then the line went dead. 5 minutes later a different guy called and said that this call is simply a survey and they are not soliciting anything, blah, blah, blah. After the first call I decided to look the number up and came across this website. I cut him off as he was telling me that they are only contacting a certain number of people. I said," Your 'certain number of people' are complaining nation-wide." Then I said,"Wait a minute. Are you the guy that's been sleeping with my wife?" I started getting loud and told him that I will track him down with this telephone number. He hung up and never called back. My wife just rolled her eyes at me.
I have received several calls from this number and most of the time they hang up when I answer. However, the other day I received a call from "Courtesy 101" and when I answered the person on the other end mimiced everything I said. I hung up and called the number back only to receive a voicemail service. I asked to have my number removed from their call list immediately as I am on the National Do Not Call list. Unfortunately, that hasn't seemed to work. I find these calls annoying and harrassing!
