Some guy calling from "US Deputy Sheriff's Association". Said that they needed money for bulletproof vests and officers lost in the line of duty. I asked them if they could send some info in writing. Guy said that he needed a pledge from me before he could send me some materials by mail. I said that I'll pledge something as soon as I get something in writing. Guy said "ok, thank you" and hung up.
Sounds like a scam to me. Oh, yeah, Stranger, let me give you my credit card number so you can take all of my hard-earned money out of my account!
I have today notified Lucre, the company where this long distance number is registered. I gave them the fraud info, along with this website and another where people are posting about this company and their phone calls. They will investigate this immediately.
this is the number that started out asking for donations to the state police dept. when I refused they started calling 2-3 times a day, we usually don't answer. Today at 5:30 p.m. I decided to answer,I said "hello" and a man said "yeah I'd just like to [***]".
