Some guy calling from "US Deputy Sheriff's Association". Said that they needed money for bulletproof vests and officers lost in the line of duty. I asked them if they could send some info in writing. Guy said that he needed a pledge from me before he could send me some materials by mail. I said that I'll pledge something as soon as I get something in writing. Guy said "ok, thank you" and hung up.
Sounds like a scam to me. Oh, yeah, Stranger, let me give you my credit card number so you can take all of my hard-earned money out of my account!
The caller played a 2 lines from a song which would identify what my profession is. They waited until the two lines were over, and then hung up. This was not an automated call. Called me in less that 5 minutes after I walked in from work, and from my parking lot.
Is it possible, technologically, that this call is originating from North Carolina?
I just received a call from 269-537-2015 at 8:18pm Eastern time on Sunday, April 29th. When I answered they asked for my husband by his middle name! Weird??? I said he wasn't available and asked if I could help him and he hung up on me. How rude!!!
The party hung up when my recorder answered this afternoon, and had called at least once before on 4/15/07 @ 8:53PM. After reading this thread I sort of wish I'd answered, LOL.
