Some guy calling from "US Deputy Sheriff's Association". Said that they needed money for bulletproof vests and officers lost in the line of duty. I asked them if they could send some info in writing. Guy said that he needed a pledge from me before he could send me some materials by mail. I said that I'll pledge something as soon as I get something in writing. Guy said "ok, thank you" and hung up.
Sounds like a scam to me. Oh, yeah, Stranger, let me give you my credit card number so you can take all of my hard-earned money out of my account!
I answered phone, and guy was on the other end in the middle of some story, speaking directly into the receiver but apparently to someone else. Before I could even say hello, he hung up. From this page, I'm guessing he's a telemarketer whose boss checks to see how many successfully connected calls he makes, rather than actual sales amounts. What else would explain this behavior?
