I received this hang up 11:50 am cst , but we have another phone that does not have ID on it and have gotten SEVERAL calls where they ask your name, and then go on to say there is a problem with our computer or microsoft something or other.... usually a foreign accent. Yesterday my husband gave me the phone and said it was for ME.... didnt know WHY he didnt say WHO it was...it was because it was one of those idiots, AGAIN, as soon as he said the same old thing again, I said remove us from your calling list, and he said to me SHUT UP! I said shut up back and he did it back to me ! ! ! HOW IGNORANT AND RUDE! next time we will say please hold so I can have my wife/husband help you.... and then just leave the phone off the hook.... I BELIEVE this would keep them from making another call till we hung up on our end ? ? ? maybe I am wrong...all in all I / WE are sick of this stuff ! thanks for posting all the comments from folks like us. Apppreciate it !
That's the last resort for bogus tech support callers. They know their ship's sunk, you're not buying their spiel, so all they can do is threaten you, and dish out obscenities. Anytime you get a random call and it's a foreigner on the other end, just hang up on them. Don't rule out or be surprised by anything you hear from scammers.
Got called twice today and twice yesterday. Caller ID says "Out of Area." Picked up the last call as a reflex while asleep. No one on other end. Received calls from these scammers before. Can't believe anyone would fall for their crap anyway.
like everyone else, they called and told me my computer had called them. I asked him why did my computer call them? he said that it was because it was infected. I told him first off my computer had been told repeatedly that it can't use the phone without permission, and secondly in trouble for having unprotected computer sex. I told them I would deal with it by putting my computer on restriction and if he made any more phone calls I would spank it. I'll give them credit for being persistent, he kept insisting he could help me...
Rec'd a call from this number; a man with a thick accent & in a very noisy room asked for me by name, then told me my computer had been hijacked. I told him to go away because I had heard about the scam. Don't know how he got my name, but we have received hang-up calls almost daily. My husband never answers unless he recognizes the number, but I sometimes pick-up out of curiosity. My theory is that someone out there is verifying whether a phone number is "live" so it can be added to a list they sell to the crooks.
These moran's called when I was not at work. Unknowlingly, my employer followed their advice and gave over controls of the computer. They INJECTED a virus THEN wanted $300 to correct it!!! They blocked my employer from being able to do ANYTHING on the computer. Our Apple tech came and straightened the problem out. But since this occurrence, we've had continued issues. IF IT SMELLS LIKE HORSE, LOOKS LIKE A HORSE....DUH!!! HANG UP!
