The number could be from anywhere in the world! Yes, the 'computer Tech' guys really try hard to speak with an American accent and use a typical 'American' name. I've been called numerous times over the years and had played my own games with 'Alex'...who got very mad when I told him I would not turn my computer over to him. I hung up when the swearing started. He called me back....twice. Last time I said I'd called the FBI.or FTC. He hung up. Two week after that, "Alex" called again. I reminded that I'd called the FBI, all my calls are now recorded. It's been almost a year. And so the scams start again with a new batch of idiots
Thrice again these [***] called my home phone! They called again yesterday (7-25-16) @ 2:04pm, left no message. According to previous entries, these [***] are trying to run a computer scam from overseas (India) to take control of your puter OR are trying to obtain access to your puter for your personal info! Either DO NOT answer their calls OR HANG UP on them immediately after answering their call!
Received a call from a man with a heavy Indian accent at 7:23 PM on my mobile phone. He informed me that I needed work done on my computer because it had been infected with a "wirus" and only he could fix it. He asked what form of Vindows I was using. I said, "Vindows? I think they are double pane thermal glass and there are 10 of them so that would be Vindows 10". He told me to look for the Vindows key on my computer keyboard. I searched and searched and kept asking him for help to find the key with the four little flags on it. He started getting impatient with me for being such an idiot. I then said, "OH, my COMPUTER? I have a Mac. Does that make a difference"? He swore at me in Hindi and hung up. That was good for a giggle or two. Don't let these people to get remote control of your computer and Be Safe!
