The number could be from anywhere in the world! Yes, the 'computer Tech' guys really try hard to speak with an American accent and use a typical 'American' name. I've been called numerous times over the years and had played my own games with 'Alex'...who got very mad when I told him I would not turn my computer over to him. I hung up when the swearing started. He called me back....twice. Last time I said I'd called the FBI.or FTC. He hung up. Two week after that, "Alex" called again. I reminded that I'd called the FBI, all my calls are now recorded. It's been almost a year. And so the scams start again with a new batch of idiots
Got a call from this number a few minutes ago. He identified himself as Gary, calling about my computer! Had no hesitation telling me he was calling from New York, when I asked! Usual Scam call!
The unusual part is that there was absolutely no trace of any foreign accent. And I was all ready to call him a bunch of vile names in several Indian languages!
Instead I asked him if anyone falls for this tired old scam anymore. He seemed confused with that but hung up anyway.
