Just got a call from this # about my commuter has a virus, that's funny cause I don't own a computer, I use my phone for all my internet needs!!! Total Scammers NEVER give anyone your info over the phone like that, a ligit company doesn't do that so please don't give anyone access to your computer!!
Just got a call from them. Very Thick accent (middle eastern?). They claim to say that my computer is infected and being hacked. I ask which computer as I have a few. He replies it does not matter if its windows xp vista or windows 7 but it is a windows base machine. He can't tell me which computer. I asked him what company and where he's calling from. He said brooklyn. He kept telling me I don't understand and I should go to my computer and let him show me. I kept asking questions like who what and where. He try to reassure me that they work with or like (can't really understand the thick accent) microsoft, dell, and verizon. He got annoyed with my questions and I asked for a supervisor. A guy by the name of eric with a thick accent also but easier to understand. He restated what the first guy said. He claims he's american. LOLz. After getting him fustrated, he ask if I wanted them to help or not. I can hang up if not. So I did (had my fun with them already). These guys are total scammers and not smart ones.
Points people have to remember.
First, they can't have access to your computer unless you give them permission so they can't know you have a virus or being hacked (unless they the one hacking).
Second, if they do have access to your computer(without your consent or knowledge, they just violated the computer fraud act. A criminal charge.
Got a call from a private caller. He never gave a name but said he was with "PC Service and Repair". Said he was working for Windows and my computer is sending messages out and has been hacked. Sounded fishy to me. He knew my name somehow. He wanted me to go to my computer and he would walk me thru getting rid of the hacker. SURE. I got his number 347-227-6900 and said I would call him back. He had a very thick Indian accent.
Are you kidding? You think it MIGHT be a scam? Oh, brother! I just got this call, same as the others. I was sweet as could be until I got the number, then I told them I was going to report them and to take me off the list. Some scam -- I don't even use a Windows computer!!!!!! I hope they are caught, shut down and prosecuted! This is getting so bad, all these calls. Being on the donotcall.gov registry doesn't seem to do the trick anymore at all.
Criminals don't obey laws simply said! The DNC can't protect you from these spoofed scam calls bottom line! Some of these callers are not here in the US either, most are in India and/or Pakistan. In self defense, you should consider getting a call blocking device or phone..
