I called my mother and her caller ID identified my number as this number (which it is not). I called Centurytel, our phone service provider, and they are looking into it. Ugh.
Guys called saying they were with Microsoft Support and they can fix my Windows problems. I only answered the call because I know people in Atlanta. Three different guys came on the phone. "Supervisor", then a "Technical Support" guy. All with heavy foreign accents, barely understandable. I played along just because I was curious to see what they'd ask me to do. They told me to hold down the Windows key next to the Ctrl key, and press the R key. They asked me what I saw on the screen. Naturally, I could not tell them since I didn't do it. When they asked a second time what I saw, I said what am I supposed to see? Then said the screen told me "These guys are a bunch of Scammers". They told me the screen should be telling me "You are a bloody M__ther F__ker." I just laughed and gave it back to them.
I don't usually answer these, but I was watching TV with guests, and I accidentally hit the answer button. I heard something about my credit card account with Wells-Fargo being frozen, and that I should press "1" for more information. I then hung up- I don't have a Wells-Fargo credit card account. Nice try, scammer-scum.
Call ID showed the caller's name as Devry. When I answered, the caller was a non native speaker of English. He said there was a problem with my computer and asked if I had my PC on. He said my PC was hacked by spyware download. He did not identify a company. I said I would not be talking to him and hung up.
When the odd numbers show up, most of the time I don't waste my time answering and sometimes just do it for fun, and and oh my they get all shook sometimes - BUT - there is a WONDERFUL feature on cell phones - you can BLOCK them from ever calling you again!!! I so love this little feature - I have no idea what message they get should they try again and don't care...
So, everyone, use the Block Feature and never call them back, not worth some of the drama that can happen if you do!!!
