I checked around. This phone number is 'called' Tea Party Patriots. Apparently they don't have anything to do with the 'tea party'. The common characteristic among the call recipients is that someone in the household (or the address) might have voted for the Republicans (GOP) in one of the last 2 elections. So this number (group) is being used to harass these people till they get fed up with the Tea Party and stop supporting it.
I can't get more information to find out if this is a Democratic funded scammer or someone doing it on his own funds to try help the Democrats.

Maybe, this is a variant on the same kind of harassment.
If it is really the Tea Party calling, they would wait to talk to you about their cause and ask for your support or at least, for a donation. This number just calls till you want to pull your hair out. No other intent behind it.
Just ticked them off by letting my toddler answer the phone...they will be sorely disappointed the every time they call, because that is who they will be talking to from now on.
Called number back - recorded message - they are a thrid party fund raiser for political and non-profit. Stated it takes 48 hrs to have your number added to the do not call register. 6/27/12
Yes, this is a third party fundraising group. I am also on the do not call list. I called the number back
and pressed 0 and was also told it would take 48 hrs to remove me from their list.
