I got a call and was a message saying that if I wanted to lower my credit card debt to press 9, so I did. A nice girl answered the phone saying that she worked for credit card services contracted through Visa/MasterCard. I said what about American Express? She said yes we have a contract with them to. Then asked how much debt on the credit card do we have. I gave her an about. Then she says she needs to make sure we qualify before telling me what they can do for me. I tell her I am not going to give my information to her without knowing who or what company I was talking to. Then she said who she was and that she worked for credit card services. She just kept telling me she needed to verify the information then could transfer me to her superior. I told her I was not comfortable giving my information out and she went on telling me about how the credit cards would protect me and I would not be charged anything. I have to say she was pretty good. But then I asked is there anyway I can verify her company and she said that after she verified me I would be transferred and her superior would give me all of that information. I told her I wouldn't do that and said sorry. Then hung up.
I have to say talking to her she was very good, she sounded legit except for a few red flags when my questions couldn't be answered completely. I can totally see why people do get scammed though, scary.
April 13, 2009. I got this call this afternoon and hung up. The recorded message was for a lower interest on my credit card and the offer to press 9 for a lower rate, I did not press 9 and hung up.
Just received this call when I got home from work on my home phone. Answered but the person hung up. I did a *69 and it revealed this 407-000-1919, so I Googled it and came to this page. You're all right, sounds like a big scam to me. You should never give your info when someone calls you, ask for their phone number then verify and call back if reputable. Be careful people!!!
Call came up as this number, 407-000-1919. A SCAM!!!! DO NOT REPLY HANG UP DO NOT GIVE THEM THE TIME OF DAY. REPORT TO POLICE, BBB AND I CONTACTED DATELINE TO DO A CHECK ON THIS COMPANY. IS ONE OF THE SCAM COMPANIES THEY DID A SEGMENT ON!!!
