You are exactly right, but only one problem: you have to actually speak to a live person, and the chances of that are slim to none. Only the legit companies will comply by the rules, but the scammers will not stop calling and will not give you their address so you can send them a letter.
just received a robo call at 9:57am, 5/18/12 offering to lower my interest rate by pressing "1" and speak with a representative or to be removed from call list by pressing "3". I pressed 3 and the line went dead.
Received another call from this phone #; still a robo-call (saying that it's Rachel from Credit Card Services...again...again...again); still a telemarketer; and I'm still on the DO NOT CALL list.
What is the use... these telemarketers are so annoying and don't even check the DO NOT CALL phone list!
I continually get a call from 407 429 9999. The recorded message is always a Rachael from card holder services claiming I can reduce my current interest rate but I have no debt! I have contacted Chase directly regarding this in hopes that they would investigate since it is their company's name they are using for this scam but was promptly told there is nothing they can do! I have now reported this to the FBI and am awaiting a response.
