Document everything..... RECORD THE CALLS IF THEY CALL BACK
A woman in NC recently won a multimillion dollar law suit aginst a credit collection agency because they made lewd and offensively sexual comments that she captured on tape. While she may never see a penny of that money, it put that group of scum suckers out of business (at least temporarily) and I am sure there is the threat of jail time should the be convicted of subsequent offenses.
The most difficult part of succussfully going after these folks will be identifying who they are and where they are actually located. (obvioulsy this is why they hide behind spoofed phone numbers).
We just got one of these calls, and notice there has been a lot of activity reported today with people getting calls from 407-429-9999. We are in Pennsylvania, I am guessing most of the folks reporting here are also from PA, since these calls appear to be computer generated robo calls.
If you are in PA, please call your local TV news station, if they get enough calls there will be story which may provoke law enforcement to respond.
JUST GOT A CALL THIS MORNING--DID NOT ANSWER AND THEY LEFT NO MESSAGE. CALLER ID JUST SAID "FLORIDA". I LIVE IN VIRGINIA AND AM ALSO ON THE "USELESS DO NOT CALL REGISTRY".
They didn't. Their robo dialers just increment through every possible phone number in a given area code and exchange. The autodialer doesn't care if the number works or not. The start with XXX-YYY-0001 and just increment by 1 for each call until they hit 9999 then move on to the next exchange in the area code.
