Unfortunately charities are allowed under the DNCR. Because of this I believe people have set up fake organizations in a effort to get around the DNCR so the can trick people into donating.
Sorry, you are WRONG. I have a SECOND NUMBER on my line with its own DISTINCTIVE RING, and therefore I KNOW which number they are calling in on by that fact. Have had it - and been PAYING for it - since 2006. Its no longer available, but because I'm 'grandfathered' by the package I'm buying, I've still got it.
Guess you are not as up on your 'technology' as you think.
This number called us again in SEPTEMBER, OCTOBER, NOVEMBER and DECEMBER 2013, EVEN THOUGH we have programmed their number into our CALL BLOCKING SYSTEM. They called AGAIN today, and got an outgoing pre-recorded message that states (in a man's very authoritative voice!) "The Number You Have Reached WIll NOT Accept Your Call." and then it hangs up on them.
This recording SATISFIES the FTC's requirement that you "tell" telemarketers and charities "NOT TO CALL." That blocking/message has been in effect since APRIL 2013.
SO...I have NOW REPORTED THEM to the DNC List AS VIOLATING MY SPECIFIC, PERSONAL REQUEST TO THEM to NOT BE CALLED. They have VIOLATED the rules of the DNC List and are NOW SUBJECT TO FINES. If the FTC and FIND them, they are going to be a a boatload of trouble!
