Unfortunately charities are allowed under the DNCR. Because of this I believe people have set up fake organizations in a effort to get around the DNCR so the can trick people into donating.
Just received a call from this group---I knew it was a scam---who calls at 9pm soliciting for any charity. How utterly sick for someone to pose assuch a wonderful organization such as the 'Breast Cancer Society'. Also, I never respond to solicitations over the phone, I give to causes that I know are legit. So these scammers are just wasting time calling people.
I would like to see the real Breast Cancer society go after these people, I will report this to the Attorney General's office.
Well, its 'Breast Cancer Awareness' Month (WHOM is 'not aware' of Breast Cancer at this point???) so its Time for this SCAM to start up again.
This is AT LEAST the 7th or 8th call from them in the last two years. At least they don't try nearly every day like some scams (credit card interest and 'free' cruise 'survey') do.
Nevertheless, this **IS** A ***S*C*A*M***. For those who UNWITTINGLY enough FALL for this SCAM, MORE THAN 90% of your 'donation' goes in the pockets of the TELEMARKETERS. THIS is *NOT* a *REAL* Charity!!!!!
