Unfortunately charities are allowed under the DNCR. Because of this I believe people have set up fake organizations in a effort to get around the DNCR so the can trick people into donating.
If they use telemarketers, they are, by definition, not a legitimate charity. Most of that money goes to the telemarketers. Money given to "charities" that use telemarketers is money wasted.
This number called my parents house looking for me and my husband, why would the cancer society try to hunt me down at another number? They wouldn't tell my father what company they were from and keep asking for my our phone number which he wouldn't give out.
Just got a call from "Breast Cancer S". Didn't pick up, call added to blocked numbers. That's the 3rd tele-marketer in 2 hours. Getting tired of these calls.
Called AGAIN today, THREE MONTHS after their first attempts. Caller ID said "Breast Cancer S", as in other posts. Did they think I was fall for it THIS time???
[I SWEAR I can tell its SPAM by the RING - the ring for spam sounds SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT (more 'tinny') from our 'real' phone calls - I wonder it that has something to do with the computers they use...?]
This time I was home, but I picked up/hung up without answering to 'break' the call and hopefully 'confuse' the robodialer. I will NEVER donate to this or ANY OTHER "CHARITY" - No matter how 'legit' they MAY be - that COLD CALLS ME OVER THE PHONE.
