my mother received the same message from "Revenue Canada" and called to answer to a "mr. adam spencer" (his assistants are "ray" and "anna"). he told my mom to send a money order of 7500 dollars through walmart or a western union (which is very sketchy) or she would be arrested. he told her not to tell anyone, and if the bank asks why you need the money to say its a family emergency. it seems that their new number is 1(343) 885 7631(which is the ottawa area code). they are very convincing and will even give you id numbers, rankings, and an office location. we went to the police and there have even been reports of these people threatening to deport immigrants (who dont know any better) if they dont pay right away. i hope this helps.

For those of you receiving this call in Canada, It's been Canada Revenue Agency for 20 years not Revenue Canada. All CRA employees are required to give you their ID number which will end with ONT or PRA or MAR etc. depending on the region they are calling from. CRA does not accept payment by credit card. If you owe CRA money they will simply seize your bank account and garnishee your income at source. If you are subject to Special Investigations the CRA will show up unannounced at your door with a search warrant, they don't give you a heads up in advance. They don't call from a number in California. Report this scam to the RCMP fraud division. Stay safe.

I have received 3 calls from this nu beer today, telling me there is a criminal investigation about me and I must respond immediately. I called the number and asked them to stop calling me- then the person asked for my number- which I refused to give! Person had an Indian accent .
It starts off with a (woman's voice) recorded message telling you that you must return the call. You are in big trouble with Revenue Canada and repeats the call back number twice. It was a bit garbled, however, most people would return the call, as I did. A man with an Indian accent told me I had 3 criminal charges against me by the Revenue Canada and asked if I had a lawyer. It went on and basically, I was told I would lose my passport, my driver's license, my house would be seized, and asked if I had someone who could bail me out of jail as that was where I would be going when the police (who would shortly be on their way) arrived at my door. Anyway, you get the drift. Threats and more threats. I asked him to give me some basic information about myself in order to verify who he was ... no, that was confidential. I asked what his address was and .... wham ..... he hung up!
