Yes, this so called OFFICER JULIE SMITH from "IRS" is a real nut job. At the end of her warning message, she says, "TAKE C-A-R-E"........in a creepy voice. No IRS would say that. Her accomplice, a supposed, JAMES ANDERSON w/thick India accent tried to get my personal info & when he didn't suceed began with filthy sexual comments on what he would do to me. Somebody, get this slime ball. His number is 415 251 8890 out of San Francisco. He'll answer sooner or later.
I got same vm yesterday 9/20. I called back, heavy Indian accent guy forcefully told me I owed back taxes and a warrant was out for my arrest and the police was coming to my house or job within 2 hours. He hung up on me when I yelled back at him. I knew this could not be true. WTH!
Citizen I agree with you! We should all call back the number claiming we are from FTC and say that we know who they are and that criminal action has been brought against them!
I received 2 phone calls today from this number, 415 951 8890, Officer Julie Smith same as everyone else has reported. I was a little concerned so I called a friend of mine who works for the IRS as an advocate, he confirmed it as being a scam. My friend reminded me the IRS doesn't make collection calls especially on Saturday, and they always send a letter first for you to contact the IRS. So with this in mind I called the scam number it as answered by a answer machine.(no surprise there). I left a message for Julie, since they didn't answer my call, I will wait until the next business day, and call the real IRS, to report their scam phone calls. I don't think they will call again.
Well it's a scam whereby someone in India (officer something-or-another) cold calls you and pretends to be IRS and starts accusing you of committing tax fraud and tells you that police are coming to arrest you and take your assets and all sorts of unpleasant things. All these things will happen to you unless you pay the caller X amount of money by untraceable Green dot money paks.
And that's it, in a nutshell.
Here's a helpful rule: If a person with an Indian accent cold calls you and 1. offers you something or 2. threatens you, you can be sure that it is 100% a scam.
It's a stupid scam, but some people fall for it. Women, single mothers and the elderly mostly. Also members of the immigrant community.
