Steve,
They're all correct. It is from Craigslist, I'll tell you exactly what happened.
C-list changed their policies on posting multiple ads from the same account.
Many power users who post 100+ ads a day therefore must have multiple accts.
Now C.list requires each account to be phone verified.
Meaning you need a verification # sent by c.list to your phone to activate each acct.
Google: 'Craigslist PVA's' see what I mean
You'll see dedicated websites selling PVA's for $6-$13 each.
C-list says 1 posting per acct per 48 hrs, and no cross posting to multiple cities.
So imagine those power users need lot of phone #'s for cheap,
and this verification # he was hoping you'd pass along to him.
Power users even change their IP address, use proxies, to get around the rules.
My wife got a call this morning from 854-244-2849 from a lady with Asian accent name Jessica. Telling she is calling from Do not Call List office and every registered user is provided with secure code which will be provided right after the hung up with automated call. Sure enough my wife recd the automated call from 415-366-0260 with some secure code. And right after that Rebecca called again to verify that code. Stupid enough, my wife gave the code to them. Am I in some kind of identity theft?
My dad told me this number (415) 366-0260 and (760) 705-8888 called and said they were the Health Dept. and they were going to need 5 phone numbers and some kind of code. He didn't give them any numbers because my dad thought it was kind of suspicious. I googled these 2 phone numbers and realized it was a prank/scam.
Somebody called me from this number to give me some kind of code. I have never used Craig list and I have no intention of using it. This seems like a scam to me.
I also got a call from 415-366-0260. He said he is from caller block registery. Then I got a call from got a 5 digit code. I gave the code to that person. I dont even use 'craigslist'. After reading all this messages I know it a SCAM now. Do you see any problems by giving the number...
