Our mortgage has been sold about 4 times, now, and Seterus is the current holder of our mortgage. We had no options or say in any of it. We've started getting calls from that number, recently, but never a message. We haven't been home to answer the phone, so no idea what they want.
The call from this number is nothing but dead air and they are calling my cell and home number but not leaving a message.
We have a short sale offer and they keep coming to us saying that we have $20K + to pay toward the loan then they will accept. Who do they think they are that anyone in this situation would have money to pay against something they are loosing. A$$es!!!!! I hate this company and our loan was sold last summer and that is when the harrassing calls began (we were never late on our home either).
There is no point in refinancing to get rid of Seterus... I went thru Quicken, who sold it to BOA and now Seterus. So if you refinance through someone else, they'll eventually sell it down the line and you could end up right back with them.
My issue is that they state the terms of my contract stay the same but that is not true... they CHARGE you for MAKING A PAYMENT. $5 for online, $10 for over the phone. The only way to avoid the fee is to pay by mail, which of course makes it your word against theirs that they received it on time... so another opportunity to rake you over the coals with a fee.
I'm going to try sending my payments in with a return receipt requested... so I know EXACTLY the date they received it, so they can't try to pull any funny business charging me a late fee.
If they sell your mortgage to a third party (and they all do eventually), the terms should not be modified, and that should include fees involved in payments.
