Sounds to me like you are part of the scam. How could someone pull off a call from the number recited....they were in that office idiot. The map point to a southern state as to where this number is from, not CA. Also, they call on one 800 number and ask you to call back on a different 800 number. I do not think so. You should have signed in as ScamMan.
Did these people try to open any credit cards, affect your bank accts etc.

This woman called my mother asking for my phone number or address, saying I was due a payment per the increase in my father's SS. My mother reluctantly gave my cell #. The woman reached me with the same query and asked if I wanted the payment deposited directly into my bank acct. I said no, gave her my mailing address (not sure that was smart but everything seemed legit and the "payment" owed me was small. We traced this and are pretty sure this is a scam. Watching my acct closely.
aunt got a call from this number wanted info and for her to call back at 888-880-2832 x4561 I intercepted the call thinking it was bogus! Looks like it was.....
Received a call late evening on a Sunday evening from this number. Caller said they were from Medicare and needed to verify information regarding claims that were in process. Caller sounded like an elderly woman. She appeared to be reading from a script of questions and requested I confirm my SS# to establish that she had the right person. She asked a number of private information questions that I could not answer without research. When I indicated same, she asked if she could call back in the morning.
