Sounds to me like you are part of the scam. How could someone pull off a call from the number recited....they were in that office idiot. The map point to a southern state as to where this number is from, not CA. Also, they call on one 800 number and ask you to call back on a different 800 number. I do not think so. You should have signed in as ScamMan.
I received a phone call which went into my voice mail. The female caller from this same number as listed, 510-970-1100 left a message stating I needed to call my local social security office regarding a payment. Since this is LABOR DAY WEEKEND, and a SATURDAY, that tipped me off that this was a scam. No one from a Federal Office works on Labor Day weekend. I suspect that this woman/or people are fishing for account information. The number came up on my caller ID as from Richmond, California.
It was logged in on my phone at 10:40 AM, my time, which would make it 0840 AM their time...IF it truly is from California. MY suspicion is that this woman is using a phone proxy server, which can bounce a phone signal from all sorts of places in the world, but "appear" as if it is from somewhere in the USA to make people think it's legitimate.
Luckily I didn't speak to her, and I have forwarded all information to the fraud division of the Social Security Administration for further follow up. If she calls again, I'll have my tape recorder handy....I think my first question to her will be, "Why don't you get a real job, THEIF!"
They said they were from social security fishing for info.
We were told to report them to the Attorney General's Office as someone within the system is stealing.
