Got a call from this number, display said New York so I didn't answer it. Left a voicemail, in a janky computer voice, saying they were the IRS and they were going to be filing a 'lawsuit' against me. And then left a completely different number to return a call to stop the legal process...
Several calls over the last few days that are disconnects. I assume thatʻs my anonymous caller blocking at work. One got thru and it was a microsoft windows scammer.
I got a call from 5162859894 NY and it said the IRS is conducting a lawsuit against me and to call another number, I didn't get to write the other number down because I was driving but it sure did scare the scrap out of me. I'm glad I researched this number and this is how I found this page
came in from a land line at 10:40 AM as a New York number on my mobile number - the number i use when I file my income taxes - and is the 2nd in a series of fraudulent IRS calls so I will be filing a report with the FTC and www.tiga.gov. Yesterday's message from a 202 number was a recorded message when I answered it - It had a valid agent's name, as I found out after an almost 50 minute hold for a real IRS agent. todays call from this 516 number did leave a voice mail "Hello we have been trying to reach you. This call is officially final notice from IRS Internal Revenue service the reason of this call is to inform you IRS filing awsuit against you to get more information about this case file. Please call immediately on our department number 2028641158. I repeat 2028641158. Thank you."
that is the message verbatim and is a computer generated female voice. If you get an IRS type call, I urge you to follow up by calling the IRS on your own. the IRS does NOT call - they send a letter in the mail asking you to contact them.
