Got a call from this number, display said New York so I didn't answer it. Left a voicemail, in a janky computer voice, saying they were the IRS and they were going to be filing a 'lawsuit' against me. And then left a completely different number to return a call to stop the legal process...
Got a call from this number, display said New York so I didn't answer it. Left a voicemail, in a janky computer voice, saying they were the IRS and they were going to be filing a 'lawsuit' against me. And then left a completely different number to return a call to stop the legal process...
I received a call from this number at 7:51 am today but couldn't get to the phone in time to answer it. I waited a moment then called my voice mail. The lady speaking identified herself as calling from the IRS and that I had only today to return the call or a lawsuit was being brought against me. The "return" number was 202-506-9233 and goes through a series of clicks, pops, and noises but is never answered. I don't owe the IRS so I'm not exactly sure what is going on. Good luck folks!
This number left me a voicemail with an automated voice saying they were the "Internal Revenue Service" with a final notice of a lawsuit. I almost fell for this because I am currently being audited by the IRS, but this voicemail is most certainly a scam. Probably trying to get people to call them back and give them SSN, name, etc.
