I just had the same call. Threating to sue me and I can call them back with my lawyer....whatever!. Luckily I have a friend at work who suggested I google the phone number. Glad to know I have nothing to worry about. How do these people get our phone numbers anyway??? Well thanks everyone for all the postings I've read here, it encourages me to know others have not given in to this scum.
Call from Robert Woods of Calvin and Travis Law Firm. My name and social are being sued. I called them back at 561-235-7900. They gave me a case number and when they were going to give me the file number I told them just to go ahead and sue me. He didn't think that was funny and got flustered. He told me this will ruin my credit and I retorted with bring it on and hung up.
They can't garnish/attach your wages without first taking you to court! Therefore, to threaten you with this action pretty much shouts from the rooftops that these are scammers!
Guy with heavy accent left a threatening message that a suit is being filed against my social and my wages will be garnished. I have until the end of the day to call him back. If he does not hear from me I will suffer legal consequences and my credit will be ruined. First of all I am disabled so I don't work. Second I never applied for any payday loans or any loans. So happy wage garnishment. These people are breaking the law and our by the time our system gets to them they will have a different number and be in another country doing the same thing. Its sad how they are harassing and scarring people into thinking that money is owed. We live in America and our law says before you garnish wages it has to go threw a court system and you have to be notified. Same as any debt you may have a letter stating that debt should be received . All we can do is keep reporting them to the FTC, FDCRA, etc
