This is a scam! I got the same call as the rest saying my name and social are being sued and my credit would be ruined. How does our government allow this type of thingto continue? The person who called could barely speak English! I have done nothing wrong to get sued or be arrested like they threatened if I did not wire money within an hour, Crazy!!
Got the same damn call on my cell phone, so I called them back from my employers phone.......a law firm and he started stuttering when I told him I was with my attorney and he needed to provide me with the address and "case number" so we could resolve this. He ended up hanging up on me!
I have received several phone calls for about 2 weeks from these scammers. First from California with a 916-245-0685. They threatned me with all sorts of crazy stupid stuff. That they were going to sue me, send the Sheriff to my home and have me arrested and so on.... with lots of Bull-S**t. Then today got another call from this 516-288-1515 number. With the same Bull-S**t. I went ahead and joined for the next 3 months a web-site called Spokeo. Tried to research on my own but the phone number look-up websites will only take you so far. Thought paying a small one-time fee on $14.95 for subsciption I can do my own research and try to help us all put these a-h***s behind bars!!! What is really scarry about all of this is that they started to recite my complete personal info and ss #. I then asked how they obtained this from a so called "client" but could not tell me anything from who???? I have filed a formal complaint with FTC and Social Security Administration for possible fraudlent activity relating to my personal info... Also calling all three credit bureaus and filing a fraud report so they can protect my personal info a place a red-flag on my accounting. We have to ban together and stop these scammers let's all try and report on them as much as we can.... Very Angry!!!!!!!!!!!!!! R.
Same story as everyone else... Received a call from 516-288-1515. Various threats of lawsuits and arrest. If no one would fall for their crap, they'd stop doing this stuff. I guess we can only hope that sites like this can help inform others. Unfortunately, our government can do little to stop this as these things are initiated overseas, generally India, and using VOIP they can spoof their caller id to say anything and present any number they like. Do a search for 'phantom debt' to find a YouTube video of a story ABC did about this very thing.
